The A.M.S. client software resides on each of the computers to be monitored. It reports back to the A.M.S. database located generally on the Network Server, events that have been carried out by the user of the computer. Setup and changes to the configuration are made through the Client Configuration window within A.M.S. Server. Once changes have been made, computers that you wish to update are selected and the updated client configuration is deployed to the client computers. It is possible for different computers to have different client configurations. |
Configurable Details in A.M.S. are :- Monitor Network Connection - allows you to monitor whether the network is connected or not. If Yes, the computer will reboot if the network is not found. This will occur if a user disconnects the network cable. Monitored Application Detail Level - refers to the amount of event detail A.M.S. will capture. Choose from Low, Medium or High. Monitor Scan Interval - default is 3 secs. This is suitable for most applications. The value may be altered to suit the speed of the client PC. If too high a value is entered some functions may not be recorded. The minimum value that can be entered is 0.1 Refresh Configuration - allows the client to scan for changes that have been made in the configuation setup inbetween user logins. The client automatically obtains its configuration and checks the Filter & Flag Lists every time it starts. If you only tend to have logins once a day, you could use a figure of 600 which would represent 30 minutes (600 x 3 secs). Hide Client Desktop - Allows the desktop to be overlaid with the A.M.S. background showing only the Window’s Task bar. Show Client Warnings - allows the display of account warning notices. NB: Hide Client Desktop must be Yes to see notifications. Kill Flagged Applications - A.M.S. will shutdown applications that are in its event flagged list. Suspend Client Accounts - It is possible to have up to three levels of suspensions and times that the user is suspended for. It is also possible to choose whether or not to reset the warnings when account suspension has been reached. Show Icon in System Tray - can be used for the System Administrator to exit from the Client if needed. Administrators Password - Used with Show Icon, you will be allowed to insert a password here that will allow the client software to be shut down on each individual computer. |
